Overview

Summary

To assess the functional evolution of ZIKV, we have generated a library of infectious clones that span the recent ZIKV outbreak in the Americas. We have introduced mutations into the the Pariaba_01 strain to represent the 10 major American ZIKV clades which are defined by amino acid changes. We've also included three clades (also defined by amino acid changes) which pre-date the American outbreak. We will use replicative and competitive fitness assays in mosquitoes and various cell lines to map the phenotypes of these clones.
